Welcome
to the American Association of the Philippines
Rain! Oh my golly, the rain.
I thought it was just the rainy season, maybe a bit overdone. That was OK,
until the guy next door began building something in his driveway, in the
rain. Even that was OK, until he came over one day, and asked me what a
cubit was?
Now, after thanks to Bill Cosby for the cubit line, to more serious
business. And, I do mean business.
We have our Annual General Meeting (AGM) coming. It's on Sept 25. Your
Board has much to report, and with any luck everyone will be brief. Those
reports will be followed by the election of the Trustees for the next twelve
months, and important selection, to be sure.
We shall need dedicated activitists as Trustees, since we shall be
initiating programs outside Manila, developing the AAP's first-erver fund
raising strategy with Rey de Jesus as our new Vice President for
Development, and adding focus on helping our educational beneficiaries move
on to true job preparation.
With all this going on, we are also trying to make sure we communicate well.
We are very fortunate in having Chrisy Wittkop now managing this web site,
to keep you informed.
We are very sad to announce that our ever-reliable, cool -headed manager,
Shirly, will be leaving us, perhaps to teach in the province, and we are
also pleased to announce that Agnes has accepted promotion to take Shirly's
place. In addition,. in view of the expanded activities planned, we shall
be adding staff to the office: a social worker to replace Agnes, and an
assistant for Agnes (possible part time "trailing spouse").
Now don't neglect seeing the American Historical Collection at the Ateneo...
Best regards,
Glendon Rowell
