We
had 92 raffle prizes and 17 items for the Silent Auction.
Special mention to our major raffle prize sponsor – Northwest
Airlines and to all our raffle and silent auction
sponsors!
The
Ball began with sunset cocktails, and viewing of silent auction
and raffle items in the Ballroom, followed by a formal Colonial
inspired plated dinner catered by the Renaissance Makati City
(New World) Hotel.
Maritess Avila played the grand piano inside the Ballroom
during the cocktails.
Guests were seated at approximately 7:05 p.m. for the
program. Philippine Opera Company’s Lisa Cabahug and Karla
Guttierez sang the US and Philippine National Anthems,
respectively. As in last year, Flintstones and the Gang provided
music and entertainment after dinner dancing. Auctioneer Chris
Major was the emcee for the night.
Sponsor Representatives in Attendance:
Fluor
Daniel, Teletech, Leechiu and Associates, DHL, Abbott
Laboratories, Searchbank, Northwest Airlines, SEAIR, Club

What’s On and Expat, and Titania Wines.
Guests
VIP
guests included 3 ambassadors: US
Amb. to the ADB Paul Speltz, Israeli Amb. Yehoshua Sagi, and Amb.
Christian Tanghe, former Ambassador from Belgium. The
US Embassy was represented by Mr. Scott Bellard, Acting Deputy
Chief of Mission. 8 members (and their spouses) of the Consular
Corps were also present to grace the Ball.
Representatives
from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce (CanCham) and European
Chamber of Commerce (ECCP) were also in attendance. Amcham got 1
table for the said event.
My personal gratitude to my
committee members who have worked equally hard for this event:
We
were able to raise funds, with proceeds to be used, among other
things, medical, financial and educational support for indigent
children and their families. It also supports AAP's RH negative
blood service, which is a free service to the community. AAP is
also the owner-in-trust of the American Historical Collection, a
rare collection of books and photographs during the American
period, which is housed at the Ateneo de Manila University.
Our
sincere thank you to all of you! And we do hope to see you at
next year’s Ball!
